Frequently Asked Questions

What are the tides in Seadrift, TX today?
Seadrift, TX experiences a mixed semidiurnal tide pattern common along the Gulf Coast, with two unequal high and low tides each day. The difference between highs can be significant, so check both tide heights when planning your trip.
What is the best time to fish in Seadrift, TX?
The best fishing near Seadrift, TX is typically one to two hours before and after each tide change, when moving water flushes bait off flats and through passes. On the Gulf Coast, outgoing tides are often the most productive because they concentrate baitfish in channels and creek mouths.
Is it safe to boat in Seadrift, TX today?
Check the live wind forecast above for current conditions near Seadrift, TX. Gulf waters can build steep chop quickly in winds above 15 mph, especially when wind opposes the tidal current. Afternoon sea breezes are common from spring through fall and can increase winds significantly after midday.
What is the water temperature near Seadrift, TX?
Water temperatures near Seadrift, TX typically range from the mid-50s in winter to the upper 80s in summer. Winter cold fronts can drop shallow bay temperatures rapidly, pushing redfish and trout into deeper channels. Summer heat concentrates fish around current and deeper structure.
What wind conditions are expected in Seadrift, TX today?
The wind chart above shows today's hourly forecast for Seadrift, TX using Open-Meteo weather model data. Along the Gulf Coast, east and southeast winds typically produce the best inshore fishing conditions with cleaner water, while west and southwest winds can push murky water across bays.

Fishing in Seadrift, TX

Seadrift is a small town on the Guadalupe Delta where the Guadalupe and San Antonio Rivers pour into San Antonio Bay. The delta country around Seadrift holds some of the best speckled trout and redfish water on the middle Texas coast, and it rarely sees the pressure of Port Aransas or Corpus Christi. The delta habitat — fresh water mixing with salt, thick with grass and oyster reefs — is exceptional.

Planning Your Trip

The Guadalupe Delta flats are wade fishing territory. The bay is shallow and grassy, and wading anglers working early morning on a falling tide can find redfish tailing visibly on the sand and shell. Speckled trout hold in the deeper grass edges and around the oyster reefs throughout the year, with Fall being the strongest season for larger fish.

Espiritu Santo Bay to the south is accessible from Seadrift and offers more open water for boat fishing. The flats inside the bay are excellent for sight casting to reds on calm days. Pass Cavallo provides Gulf access for nearshore fishing when conditions allow the run.

San Antonio Bay is famous for sudden squalls in Spring and Summer. An afternoon thunderstorm can build from clear skies in 30 minutes. Keep an eye on the western and northwestern horizon when out on the water. The bay is shallow enough that even a modest north wind creates rough chop quickly.
