Corpus Christi is the fishing capital of South Texas, with Corpus Christi Bay, Aransas Bay, and the famous Laguna Madre providing thousands of acres of productive inshore water. The area is legendary for its speckled trout and redfish fishing, with Aransas National Wildlife Refuge providing a backdrop for pristine coastal marshes and pristine bays rarely found elsewhere on the Gulf Coast.
The Laguna Madre — the hypersaline lagoon stretching south from Corpus Christi to the Mexican border — is one of the most unique fishing environments in North America. Its extremely clear, shallow water creates ideal conditions for sight-fishing large redfish that can be seen tailing and cruising the sandy bottom. Trophy speckled trout are found in the deeper channels and grass pockets.
Offshore fishing from Corpus Christi is excellent, with access to the Flower Garden Banks (a protected coral reef) and numerous oil platforms holding an astounding variety of species. Red snapper season draws anglers from across the South. Use the live conditions forecast above to find the best weather windows for your Corpus Christi fishing trip.
