Pascagoula is at the eastern end of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the Pascagoula River system creates a productive and underutilized fishery. The river mouth, Graveline Bay, and the surrounding marsh hold redfish, flounder, and speckled trout in solid numbers. The Alabama border is close, and the species list and tidal patterns are similar to what you'd find around Orange Beach.
The Pascagoula River mouth produces excellent Fall flounder fishing. Flounder stack in the cuts on the falling tide, and live mud minnows on a Carolina rig dragged through the channel is the proven method. Redfish school in Graveline Bay throughout Fall. Spring speckled trout fishing on the shallow grass flats is consistent and lightly pressured.
The nearshore reefs east of Pascagoula produce snapper and grouper, and the area sees considerably less pressure than the waters off Destin or Orange Beach. Horn Island is a long run but the wade fishing for redfish on the ocean side is worth making.
Tidal influence here comes from both the east and the west, creating a somewhat irregular tidal pattern. The live tide chart above gives NOAA predictions for the nearest station — get familiar with how your specific spot behaves on different tidal stages.
