Orange Beach is the charter fishing hub of coastal Alabama, with direct Gulf access through Perdido Pass and extensive bay fishing behind the beaches. Redfish and speckled trout dominate the inshore game; red snapper and amberjack are the offshore targets. The Alabama artificial reef program is one of the most extensive in the Gulf, and it shows in the fish counts.
The inshore bay system — Terry Cove, Wolf Bay, Cotton Bayou — holds strong redfish numbers, particularly in Fall when fish school up and become visible on the flats. The jetties at Perdido Pass are consistently productive for flounder and sheepshead year-round. Spring speckled trout fishing on the shallow grass is on the Gulf Coast.
Offshore, hundreds of permitted reef structures within 30 miles hold enormous concentrations of red snapper, amberjack, and mahi. Snapper season draws serious pressure, but the fish are genuinely abundant. Cobia run through the nearshore zone on the Spring migration — sight fishing them from the bow of a boat is hard to beat.
The afternoon sea breeze builds quickly in Summer. An early departure makes a significant difference, especially for offshore trips. Check the tide chart above for Perdido Pass area predictions and time your inshore sessions around the tidal movement.
